Mountain Mod Pedestal Build

Thread Starter
Building a SS into a pedestal. I was given the entire bottom of the pedestal so I have lots of room.

Still need to polish, paint, insulate, load test, and wire in on/off electrical.

But all major SS work is complete and its under vacuum smile.gif

Now for the tedious load testing in my furnace room. I have to do this inside during the summer months since its so blaster hot in Georgia.

I have a couple different load testers one designed up to 290 watts and the heavy duty designed up to 400 watts. I will be using the heavy duty and aiming for a completly frozen load tester with Ice. I have a themalcouple drilled in the center of the load tester right between the two heating cartridges. This is over kill but its fun to see that I can over power the two heaters.

Its going to be later before I show load test results because im sure ill have to reclaim, trim the cap tube, re-vacuum recharge and try again before I get things to the spot I want them to be.

Oh yeah forgot to mention the white gizmo with the temp display on it will be hard wired to turn on the power to the customers PSU. Its programmable so the power will not be routed to the PSU unless the top of the suction line directly above the evap is -30c or colder. This is simply a safety mechanism to insure the CPU wont have power unless its in the frozen temp zone.

Since I don't have the PSU to test with I have it controlling a light so I can visually verify that things are working correctly.

Hopefully it will be ready by tomorrow but that may not be the case.
Im using a different compressor than I normally use and also a different size cap tube.

I had to completely replace the cap tube because I went to short in search of load balancing and I dont like to splice cap tube. Im now at 10.6 feet of .040 and will trim as needed until I reach a respectable balance of load versus burst benching.

Build is coming along very nicely. thumb.gif

What compressor did you use and what will the watt dissipation rating be on the unit?
