yep, late 2014 per recent roadmaps and as always subject to change...just pointing out will need a new mobo for Haswell E. Really intel should be releasing Haswell E now like they used to release enthusiast near same time as the performance.... prior to splitting platforms.

Haswell E would be good purchase now...Ivy E...not so exciting.

But if you were going to go for 6 cores anyway would you get the 4930k over the 3930k?

Thanks for clearing this up. Maybe I just dreamt that I'd be able to upgrade my current x79 system to an 8-core Haswell-E without plopping down another $400 for a motherboard biggrin.gif

Should I consider buying LGA2011 if I am going to be using the same CPU for the next 4 years? I'm ready to pull the trigger on IV-E and this will be my first build. I am tired of playing the waiting game. Should I just buy SB-E because the pricing will drop a little when IV-E releases? I will be buying my parts at microcenter. I'm not playing as many games right now as i was before. Ill probably invest in the 9970 when it releases. Also how is the 3820 performance, so I can speculate how much better the 4820k will be?

No actually one of my GTX 680's was stolen frown.gif, so the cheapest closest way to get back to what I had before was two 760's
