Almost sounds like she was sold/given a PC that was previously "RMA"ed for stability issues, and instead of fixing or replacing parts, they just downclocked it and sent the PC to another customer or to be sold again...perhaps by accident, but more than likely on purpose...what kind of PC is it? Dell? HP? Seems real strange, as I don't imagine your mother went in there and changed the FSB.

In 2 days it will be going to a professional for checking as my mom forbid me from touchimg it amttmore. xD
Will let you guys know what happens to it.

Dumb idea if you ask me. Spend $200-400 letting a "pro" look at it who usually dont know hardly anything or you can spend $400 getting a brand new machine at least twice as fast, probably 3-4x as fast. I dont understand why anyone ever tries to repair such an old machine for home use.

One thing that might be a reason why the fsb was low to start is perhaps the chipset being used only supports a specific frequency. I didnt remember anything from those days being a 150MHz clock, but it is a possibility.

Seems that aroumd here, IT guys are underpaid... tjey charge around 10 times less...
Knowing my mom, I wouldn't be surprised if it did have stability isuues at first, then got underclocked and sold at a discount as a result...
It's actually madeby an Estonian local company named Ordi. Overall, their rep is quite good.

Edit: turns out I fried the RAM stick. That's now replaced and the PC is running. (at the lower clock still, though)
