Dell PowerEdge R620 with 2 x E5-2690 chips. Soooo, can these be overclocked in the Dell BIOS ?

Thread Starter
I guess this is quite a new combination, but I'm wondering if anyone has managed to play with Dell's PAT or any suggestion about a stable set of overclocking settings. This server will run SQL Server, where (due to query parallelism) high core speed (even for fewer cores) makes a big difference. I am also worried about SQL Server and Hyperthreading, should I turn it on or off, or just test the hell out of it !

Regards, Greg.

I doubt even the Bclk can be OC'ed on a Dell board.
And the Xeons are multiplier locked whether you want to have hyperthreading on depends on how parallel it is I think SQL queries are fairly well multi threaded so it shouldn't hurt.
