Where Is my Bottleneck??

Thread Starter
I have a 2012 server with dual Intel gigabit teamed on LACP, a workstation with dual Intel gigabit teamed the same, and a Linksys srw2024 smart switch where I have setup both systems on LACP teams which are active.

Still my max sustained throughput is 105-110mb.

Is that the limit or is my single WD black in my workstation bottlenecking the max speed I can get??

I've heard talk of people who can achieve 200mb+ with 1gb teams and the right switches.

Considering the hard drive you're using, it's pretty much what's causing the bottleneck. 105~110MB/sec on WD Blacks seem pretty much it. I can hit anywhere between 75~90MB/s transfering between my main rig and my file server with a couple Seagate 1TB ES.2 in RAID1.

My server had 6 2tb spammy a working off a perc 6. Would a 2 drive raid 0 sata 3 array give me an increase.

You should do a raid 0 or get a large SSD

It'll give you a nice increase. But it probably won't go as far as 200MB/s. For a comparison, I had 15K SAS2 HDDs on an LSI 9264/8i that a single one could do roughly 200MB/s linear, RAID0 6 of them would only get me as high as shy of 800MB/s, both read and write speeds.

Exactly, probably 3 or 4 in a RAID0 will give you enough performance to exhaust the 2Gbps connection. A single SSD is undoubtedly enough too. Server side, the 6 RAID0 HDDs are by far enough to cap the LAN connection.
