Nintendo's home console can be yours for just $299.99 starting September 20, the house of Mario announced today. That's a $50 price cut for a console that's about to get a steady flow of Nintendo-made games but that's been struggling to sell at even half the pace of its predecessor.
Even better news is that the bundled Wii U with The Wind Waker comes with an etched gamepad. Three checks out of two that I was needing to purchase one.

Today is a good day

still expensive. and game collection is poor aswell..

make it 200$ for the base model and annouce some good games and thing will sell..

they need to drop it to like $250 or so, $100 less than the PS4/Xbone is not a good plan honestly.

Nintendo has yet to release a system that warrants a purchase over my SNES and N64, in my opinion.

I guess this is good news for Nintendo fans, but.... where are the games? And why must Nintendo continually flip the bird to third party devs with their obscure hardware choices and designs?

Very curious to see if Wii U sales pick up/stay the same/die off after more the more expensive PS4/xbone launch this fall.

This is a good start but is still too expensive for me, $250 is the sweet spot for the deluxe model imho, they need to make it cheaper before the new consoles come out though, a bundled Zelda etch controller, Wind Waker HD+The Legend of Zelda Historia

is kind of tempting though and a day before my birthday... very tempting indeed... too damn tempting!!

It was a trilogy, but remember Prime Hunters? The bosses were very repetitive, but the scenarios and the IA overall were quite nice.

I wouldn't mind a follow-up of Prime Hunters tbh. Would make for (another) super awesome online multiplayer

Sweet. Was planning on getting mine soon anyways.

Don't get this hate towards the U. Sure its game selection is more to be desired, but it seems most people are hating on it since its hardware isnt up to snuff and that it wont be able to push l337 graphicz. Seriously people stop worrying about l337 graphicz, worry about gameplay. The reason why a lot of games nowadays are extremely stale and boring.

1) The graphics are fine

2) The Wii U does not directly compete with the PS4 or Xbox One. People buy both. Just like with the Wii.

3) The system alone is worth it once games come out. Mario Kart, SSB, Zelda... Ect.

I'm for sure getting this system, just varies when. Prolly not til Mario Kart/SSB.

I didn't like Skyward Sword. The motion controls irked me for some reason.

Ironically the motion controls are waht I like the most. That, and the visual style.

What I don't like is the separate, loosely linked world. I loved the entire vast land that Zelda games always presented to the gamer. This one feels like it could have done with nothing more than a portal room, and I don't quite like it.

Nintendo has a good holiday lineup from their own games and 3rd party and 2014 is also looking good. The Wii U is gonna hold it's ground this holiday season.

This.

The other big machines won't affect the WiiU. Its big title lineup are first party Nintendo exclusives anyway...
