Hey, i am currently overclocking my 7870 and i was wondering what is the max voltage for a 24/7 overclock? i have currently overclocked my 7870 to 1250mhz on the core and 1375mhz on the memory which is stable in unigine heaven 4.0 at 1243mv but when i play bf3 i get random hangs or bsod's so i have upped the voltage to 1263mv and it is still not stable in bf3. how much more voltage would be safe to add on? my temps are fine and max out at about 55-60 on the core and 60-64 on the vrm (at 1263mv) during extended sessions of bf3 before i get a gpu hang and bf3 freezes.

your temps are fine. go for 1.27v. if not stable increment voltage in 0.01v steps till 1.3v. do not push beyond 1.3v.

hey, thanks for the quick reply! i would do that but isn't there a advised max voltage for 24/7 use? as 1.3v might damage the card if used 24/7?

Unless you have the 7870 underwater, then I'd keep a max voltage for 24/7 at 1.25V or less. That's the recommended max 24/7 for 7850's, and these cards are very similar.

Chances are you'll have issues at 1.3V anyways, keeping the VRM's cool and temperatures down as well definitely isn't an easy task, even with a DCU2 cooler. At 100% fan speed it barely kept it below 75C on Valley, which doesn't bring out the highest temps in cards I've found. :/

So yeah, I'd keep it below 1.25V.
