Before looking into Vista... please read this - Page 3

I have RTM, build 6000, installed ultimate and fixed the install. I love the look of Vista (purty), however, it has some MAJOR issues with drivers. For instance, I couldn't get the new nVidia drivers (design for Vista RTM) to work, no matter how I installed, uninstalled them.

It's security features are thoughtful for the computer illiterate, however more advanced users will find them obnoxious.

I am going to wait on actually purchasing (if I do indeed have to purchase) Vista until they have fixed many of their driver issues.

RTM seem to be fine for me also. Just a few driver hiccups.

This reminds me of the release of XP, the same issue.

MS, is not responsible for third party drivers working on Vista. No software company can ensure 9999999999999999 drivers can work on a platform 100% of the time, nor can they spend 99999999999 billion dollars to do so.

A new OS will always have bugs, which is why folks who need stability need to wait for the first SP1. Otherwise, you'll have to be the first guinea pigs.

Didn't MS say there would never be official SP's for Vista, that XP would be the last to get SP's?
