New soundcard powering DT770PRO and A5+

Hello.

Until now, I had my Titanium HD powering ONLY beyerdynamic DT770PRo (80ohm) w/ Fiio E11, and some cheap desktop speaker connected to front panel.
So, I just got Audiengine A5+, and Im tired of going behind the computer case to change speaker/headphone.

My questions are:

1. Will there be any difference in audio quality if I connect my A5+ to the front panel/mb audio, or RCA Titanium HD?

- DT770 to TiHD
- A5+ to front panel

2. If there is any difference, is there any soundcard that would let me stay connected with both, and let me choose with output to use?
I've seen a couple on the market, but I dont think all the crap that comes with the soundcard justify's the price tag.
Just need someting compareble to TiHD that would let me choose which output to use.

I use the speaker for music, and sometimes when I chilling with a game.
And the headphone basicly for gaming, and when its getting late when my girlfriend needs her rest:D

Thanks.

Why bother asking about SQ differences when you can test it yourself?
FP SQ depends on the quality/shielding of the cable connecting the FP to the soundcard. The difference between my Shinobi and Blackhawk FP is like night and day (Shinobi FP suucks).

Sound Blaster Z/Zx/ZxR has dedicated headphone jack so you can use both speakers and headphones at the same time without FP.

E: No wonder I thought there was something fishy about the OP. Your FP is not connected to the soundcard?!

The Titanium HD has HD Audio header pins on it that you could connect your front headphone jack of your case to instead of your motherboard. In that case there would be no difference in plugging directly into the card vs the front headphone jack. Then you could plug the Audioengine monitors into the back of the sound card and software would mute the output to the speakers whenever you plugged your headphones in.

I've heard if you use FP connected to the soundcard, the sound quality will reduce dramaticly, and the on-board amps does not work when using FP.

Depends on the cable quality which connects the FP and soundcard. Meaning that the SQ drop comes from unshielded cable that is bombarded with massive amounts of EMI by the other components of the PC. Similar to how they add EMI-shields to high-end cards (the black cover on the TiHD for example).

You could always buy something like Behringer UCA202 or similar cheap DAC for the speakers.

I guess that could be the case, but I would say that is pretty poor design since all the front panel connector is is analog sound through copper to a miniplug port, so if they choose to bypass all of their improvements on that output, it is pretty sad. When I had an X-Fi XtremeMusic, I connected it to the front panel out and there was no difference between the sound. Maybe all the enhancements to sound cards since then have changed things.

I cant imagine why a company would put a front panel audio header output on their sound card if it provided terrible audio quality, though.
