The thing exploding did SFA, the current that could have passed through him however could very well have sent him flying back across the room. I had a physics teacher that liked to tell a true story to explain why you always unplug electrical circuits before playing around with them.
To paraphrase to the best of my ability: He was teaching a class on circuits, etc. and a group of two students asked him to come over, and he did not check to see if their circuit was unplugged or not. The current that went through him caused his body to spasm and sent him flying back into the wall behind him. A student jumped up, shouted "I'LL GO GET SOME LEMONADE SIR!" and ran out of the classroom to go get some.
And so, each time he covers that subject in the labs, he tells the story.
(And boy did that ever go off on a tangent)
(Was going to post this after post 5 but it took too long to type XDD)
Note: I have no idea if the lemonade helped.
