Not the x1900GT I would maybe compare it more to a 7800 series card over a 7900 series. Definately the GT or if you can the x1950Pro is a nice card.

Get the X1950 Pro its an upgraded X1900 GT and only costs a bit more. Wipes the floor with all of the polled cards.

Theres a x1900GT on Newegg for $129:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814102022R

Whadya think?

Edit: Cant the card be unlocked to an XT?

Also: Im an Nvidia kind of guy, the only ATI card Ive ever had was a 3d Rage II from '95, from a non-fanboy point of view, Is it worth it to switch?

It's a very good value for the money and will give you good performance. I've only heard good things from open boxed items from Newegg, but if you want to spend 20 more, get the retail version.

The x1950Pro is the better card, and will clock better than the x1900GT, but it's 60 bucks more for little performance gain. At this point, any card will put your current 6600GT to shame.

Edit: actually, this x1950Pro is a rocking value if you don't mind OEM.

hate to partially jack the thread, but i've got the same question.

overall performance, x1900xt or 7900gs/gt?

both of them are running around the same price (give or take a few bucks)

whats the OC'ability of each?

I like nVidia personally, so I'd go with the 7900GT.

Do you want better Quality or Performance? 1900GT > 7900GT in terms of quality, however it's pretty much reversed in terms of FPS.

1900XT is better than the 7900GT..but then again the 7900gt can be voltmodded and overclocked quite abit...either way..you cant really lose..i guess at the end it just comes down the prefrence of ATI/Nvidia
