I just bought a new monitor and am having a few problems. Help?

I just got a new Asus vg248Qe monitor, but I've been having a few problems.

#1: In the top left corner, one row of pixels will display fine, but the following row will be a shade lighter. Next will be fine, the next a little light, etc. The stripes continues down about 1/10th of the screen. It ends to the left about 3/10ths of the way, then continues to correct itself diagonally. I've tried multiple cables, but this doesn't seem to solve the problem.

#2: There's quite a bit of banding, especially with darker shades. I don't know if there's anything that would help this, playing with the settings hasn't yielded anything.

Are these solvable problems? I'd hate to return the thing, since I'd probably just get a refurbished unit - and it'd be a pain to ship, to boot.

Have you tried testing it on a different type of cable (i.e. VGA instead of DVI) or on a different computer?

No, however I can reposition the monitor's OSD and still see the lines.

I'm assuming that banding isn't something caused by bad/wrong cables. Also, the monitor only supports DVI and DisplayPort (and I don't have any cables for that).

Sounds like it's RMA/return time.

I would honestly rather just deal with it, if there are no solutions.
