CAN boot, CAN'T BIOS

What. The. HECK?

This is the weirdest issue I have ever come across. My PC boots up just fine, but I can't get into the BIOS.

I came home today to find that my PC crashed. So, I figured I should bump the vcore and do a stress test again. I proceeded to reboot and enter BIOS, or so I thought. The BIOS screen froze every time I tried to enter. I left the PC off to "cool down" for a half hour, and I still couldn't enter BIOS. So, I was trying one more time, but I got distracted and I forgot to push DEL. My PC booted up just fine. I was like wth.gif. So, I went ahead and rebooted and reset the CMOS. Nope, still frozen. Remove battery for 1/2 hour. Nope, still frozen. Re-flash BIOS. Still frozen. This is where I am now....

Thoughts?

I am of the understanding that Win8 does not fully shut down on a "restart" like win7 does.
You need to do a full shutdown then reboot and try entering bios again. Enter bios on first boot from a full shutdown.

Windows 8 UEFI boot goes so fast, you only have about 200ms to press the F8 key to get into the boot menu. Boot up a Windows 8 install DVD and go to Repair/Advanced options, and there should be a way to start the UEFI BIOS shell. The system will reboot directly into the BIOS then.

Pain in the rear, really - but I've run into the same situation on an ASROCK Z87E-ITX board. Took me a while to get into it.

IF your system boots up into the Windows 8 desktop successfully, you can access the UEFI shell by going to the Start Screen, then go to the bottom right, then into Settings, then Change PC Settings, then General, then Advanced Startup which reboots to a boot menu that lets you pick the UEFI shell.
