Thread Starter
My parents' old computer, which I will replace with my old computer. Here are the specs:

* HP Pavilion 7955 case
* 1.49 GHz Intel Pentium 4 CPU (400MHz FSB, CoolerMaster CPU Cooler)
* 256 MB PC133 SDRAM (3-3-3-6 timings)
* NVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 Pro GPU (AGP 4x, 32MB RAM, 143 MHz Core, 166 MHz Memory, 1 x VGA external port)
* Maxtor 40 GB HDD (Model 4D040H2, IDE, 5400 RPM)
* 200 W Bestec PSU (Model ATX-1956D, quiet exhaust fan)
* CD-RW Drive (HP CD-Writer, Model cd16f)
* DVD-ROM (Pioneer, Model DVD-116)
* Floppy Disk Drive (1.44MB)
* Front panel has 1 x Firewire (IEEE 1394), 2 x USB 1.1, and 1 x 9-pin serial port
* Rear panel has 1 x parallel (printer) port, 1 x 15-pin serial port, 1 x 9-pin serial port, 2 x P/S2 connectors, 2 x USB 1.1, 1 x ethernet, 1 x Microphone input, 1 x audio input, 2 x audio output
* Polk Audio speakers (L and R, small form factor)
* Firewire card in expansion slot card has 2 x Firewire
* Modem card in expansion slot has 2 x 56k model cable ports
* Quiet external rear case exhaust fan
* Multimedia keyboard
* Windows XP Capable (runs Windows XP perfectly right now but will not come with OS)

I am not sure when this was bought, but it has to be before 2001 as I remember having this computer when I lived at the old house. Ha, I even remember playing PerfectDark on the N64 with my friend when my parents brought this home from Best Buy...

cpu can, if its the 7955 board it cant, oem boards dont overclock
post #5 of 9
that sucks, because my parents are too cheap to upgrade, would it work if i transfered a 2.8 ghz chip from my bros old dell to it, my uncle said that they wont work between dell and hp but i want to be sure, because i jsut got BF2142 and it wont work on the dell because the graphics card is to low, and it wont run well on this one because of the processor

well, the thing about cross OEM processor switching i'd say is BS, but i don't think the board can support the FSB jump. I kno of no mobos taht support pc133 and 800FSB, plus the 2.8ghz was a differnt core and the mobo still might not support it. also make sure it's not socket 423(doubtful tho)

i;d also say maybe it might be worth more parted out now than together...

If you parted it out, the shipping would kill you in the long run..

I would say 150 shipped at the most.
