Building first water cooling rig, need a professionals look over! - Page 3

I use NoiseBlockers, specifically the PL-2's. They don't move the most amount of air by far, but man- they are silent when even slightly under volted. Be careful of them though, they're pricey but I love em'. Why would you need a 200mm fan if you're using the Switch 810? They won't fit in that case I believe... Anyways, some good fans are Gentle Typhoons, Noctua (you'd have to do more research into which ones), and even sometimes Gelid Wing fans depending on the model. Try asking around if you aren't satisfied with the temps you get smile.gif and to get the tubing to bend better so that way you can maybe avoid angled fittings, is heating it up slightly and getting it to in a particular way you need it to, kind of like bending acrylic.

Ok guys, hopefully the final build if you guys concur this is a good build. I am planning on putting the push fans and pull fans on two seperate 3 way PCB blocks that will then go to 2 of the channels of the fan controller. Since they are different fans I am assuming I'd want to have them running at different speeds for max efficiency. Now from what I've read, the top radiator fans should PULL cold air in through the top of the case, then the bottom ones push the warmer air into the case. I'm hoping the rear 140mm fan will be able to pull that warmer air out as well. This PC is kept in my finished basement, it's cold enough down here that I'm wearing a fleece right now and sometimes have a blanket on me, and outside it's at least 80 degrees F. So with the location of the PC, if I get the fans on the bottom to pull off the floor (where the air is coldest theoretically) into the case, it should mix with the warmer air and cool it down via bringing down interior temp for the motherboard components. Am I thinking this through correctly? I'm going to get all of this for now and then adjust as I need to after I build it and start figuring it all out.

Looks good (in addition to all the items on post 1) thumb.gif, but dont't forget the extra fittings for the GPU. You could just get some barbs like the ones with the Rad kit. Also, a filter kit on the intake would help a lot. You will have positive inside pressure (more intake airflow than exhaust), so a filter only on the intake will keep everthing inside nice and clean.

1 question - why different fans on the rads, do you already have some lying around. If it was me I would keep them the same but if you are saving some cash 2 different types will work. If you go the two different type route, you can also match the speed (similar but not the same airflow) from the fan controller as you mentioned each set will be on a different header.

Good choice on the case upgrade, you will be happy. Good luck and post pics.

You will need an additional set of fittings (two per component - res, rad, GPU, CPU). I am not sure of the hydrocopper comes with two 1/4 plugs (should, but I am not sure). If not you will also need two of them since you are not running two GPUs. A general rule of thumb is 120mm of rad per component + another 120mm.

Overclocking might be asking a bit too much but once you have everything installed you can look at your CPU and GPU temps to gauge how much room you have at load with your fan speed (noise level) preferences.

Edit - sorry, I did not check to see that the hydrocopper already has two compression fittings. The 7/16" ID tubing that comes with the RS360 does not match the compression fittings on the 780 3/8" or 1/2", will need another two 7/16 fittings for the GPU to fit the tubing size you are running.

Also, the 780 spec sheet does not say anything about plugs so i would pick up two to be safe.

I'll add that my GTX 680 Hydrocopper came with two plugs + the aforementioned fittings. I would assume the same is true for the 780.

I'm going with different fans because the rx360 kit comes with standard fans so I'll use those for pulling, the green led ones are going at the top of my case and on top of the radiator for aesthetics. Would you suggest I get all the same fan? I didn't think it would matter much.

yes the gtx 780 hydro comes with fittings, but those fittings don't fit all the rest of the fittings in the water cooling kit, so I'm going with 2 more xspc compression fittings.

It's just a general rule of thumb: positive pressure inside your case. Keeps temps lower (generally), and also helps keep dust out. It's a win-win! Keep more air going in to the case than the other fans are exhausting, and you'll be golden man. See which fans get the better temps first.

I'll keep that in mind. Looks like I'm spending another K tonight to get this stuff ordered! Woooooohoooooo!!! I'll post pictured when I can, the case is going to take a few weeks to get since they'll be powder coating it.

WOW took FOREVER to get my case from FrozenCPU...they mislabeled the case on their site as being "In Stock" when it wasn't, then it took 'em a week to take it apart and get it over to their powder coaters, then the powder coaters messed up and had to buy more paint and redo it, but finally I got it last weekend and put it together through this week. Finished product is below! Thanks for the help people!

Hopefully that link will work for ya'll!

Some things I learned from my first build is to check clearance on EVERYTHING before putting things in place. Kind of stupid design on my motherboard - the front panel stuff is right where the other half of a double PCI-e card would take up, so while the GTX 780 was still hooked up to water (not running of course), had to take it out and reposition. Also I installed the top fans in the wrong way, complete noob mistake (I used a piece of paper and it seemed like they were sucking the paper towards 'em so idk). That was a pain. Last thing I learned, you can never have enough of all types of screws haha. This was a very painful and irritating process at first, but as I got through it things started to click (there's the engineer in me coming out once again). After seeing this baby turn on and glow green it put a big 'ole smile on my face and dang I'm proud I built this!
