Can you figure out what keyboard i need? for flying in Battlefield 3?

Hi guys! My birthday is coming up next month and i wanted to treat myself to a nice keyboard.

Shorter more simple story:
I fly helicopter and jet. Seat switch a lot. I feel like Cherry MX Red would be good for flying jet. But would Cherry MX Brown be better for helicopter seat switching? Or is there something better?

Long Story:

I currently own a Logitech G510 and i got it mainly for the LED screen... but i honestly dont use it that much. Im sure there is another alternative to display my temps besides having to be stuck with this keyboard forever.

I gave the Mechanical Keyboard Guide here on OCN a read and i guess i sort of understand the different keys (sort of)... but i still dont fully understand what i need for "my kind of style of gaming"... since i guess it may differ from games?

I play Battlefield 3. I never have complaints with the keyboard on infantry; but there are times where im in a helicopter seat switching (which long story short requires me to press "E" twice to complete a "seat switch" and SOMETIMES, i feel like when i press these buttons they are unresponsive so you find me key smashing E trying to get it to register? Is that because of my keyboard?

I just feel like maybe it would be more responsive if i felt like an actual "click" in between the FIRST "E" and then the SECOND "E". My current keyboard makes me feel like im pressing down on something but im not exactly sure if it registered.... like physically.... if that makes any sense.... I never really have a problem with pressing the wrong buttons since i play Battlefield 3 almost all the time. I also fly jets a lot so im going to be pressing "W" and "S" back and forth really quickly to adjust speed, so would wanting a keyboard that would help assist in that as well.

Im sure a lot of people here play with a mechanical keyboard and Battlefield 3.... I assume there should be pilots here too? I just feel switching between guns too feels really weird with the G510 because im looking for some physical "press" or something....Im not really sure if i know what im talking about.

Oh yeah and one also big problem i have is sometimes if i press too many buttons at once; sometimes one button wont register and then if im flying really low or through buildings and a certain key doesnt register it could usually mean death.... Its not like in infantry where its more forgiving if a key doesnt press that "second" in time.... when im flying i just get frustrated when i press a key down and i can SEE it pressed down but its not doing anything? i have to completely let go of all the keys on the keyboard and then somehow it works again when i press it again...

But uh, good luck to whoever reads this wall of text: rolleyes.gif

Red give you a very light feeling switch. If you "mash" it may not be for you. Brown has a click feel but no sound, but the feel is so light I cant feel it. It s the good for all master of none switch. I like the sharp click of the blue and it may be for you. Its not the "gamer" switch as double tapping is different.

If you let the key all the way up, blue is ok.
If speed makes it so you don't want to go all the way up, but you still bottom out, black can work for you.

I would say try a blue if you can. if not, brown is a good option.

Brown sounds good. Is there a difference between black and brown? I want the lighter of the two, but not "too light" as you would describe red. Also, would blues feel slow? I am attracted to the "click" of blues but are browns just that much better ?

Ahhh this is so hard to pick. thinking.gif

OK. Here is some reading for you:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/242037/mechanical_keyboard_faq_pick_the_right_switch.html

Here is our older version of that: http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide/0_50#post_6009482

Myself, I want to try clears and greens at some point. I started out with brown, moved to red now on blue. There is no real "better" they all have good points (well, except in reference to rubber, then they all are WAY better smile.gif If you wan to "float" the key, brown is your switch. If you can touch type properly blue will call out to you. I suggest get a brown. If you hate it, sell and get something else smile.gif

New Cherry MX Clear board WASD came out with. More force required to activate the switch (65g vs 45g of the mx brown) so it will be good for button mashing, yet still retain the tactile bump that makes for a pleasant typing experience. I'll be adding this in addition to my MX Brown board I have now. Oh and it's backlit too! thumb.gif

I really don't know why the hassle in getting a mechanical keyboard.... I played for years with a low end genius keyboard more suited for office use, tried many, even the ones that are silent when you press the keys... now I have a gaming keyboard and I still find the typical office keyboard best for gaming.
BTW, something more suited for gaming would be the nostromo:

I used this for gaming for many years:
