Ok just built my computer 2 days ago i see that my card is idle at 41c pretty good start installing steam cs;go all that stuff. install msi afterburner just to see how everything is running/temps i start running cs;go and play a couple mins tab to see temps and it was at 100C! but dropped as soon as I tabbed do you think the card is defective? should i rma? here's a pick of what after burner is telling me. i am a noob with graphics cards so idk whats going on D:

And when i go into Iturbo the program that came with the card its saying my effective memory clock is only 300 whats that?

Have you tried TOUCHING the card to see how hot it is??? For some reason iam thinking its a faulty sensor I had a few ice-q cards and they NEVER went over 50c~ Open you amd catalyst control and see if those temps read the same,if not you know afterburner is at fault~ Also another thing it could be is the Thermal -paste was probbly put on wrong, or a CHEEP brand was used, if u open the card and re-apply some tp iam confident the temps schould drop!

i have not tried touching it when its hot but i have touched the heatpipes when on idle 40c and they are cold ill try to get a game running and touch it will report back in a couple mins. as for sensors i have 3 different programs all reading same temps. catalyst, afterburner, some widget

touched the pipes they were pretty warm

Well if your getting the same readings iam leaning towards a sloppy job on the thermal paste~ If you arent scared to open up your card ( and you schouldnt be) buy some good thermal paste I use Arctic Silver 5 before you Rma the card that could save you some headaches you know? Iam really suprised to hear that about a Hightech card ive had a few and they always ran cool as hell~ thumb.gif

I had a very similar (if not exactly the same) incident with a HIS 7850 card. With your case open and the GPU under-load, try applying slight pressure to the bottom-left corner of the card and seeing if it helps.
