Hi guys, it's been a while since I last posted here, mainly because I haven't felt a need to upgrade my PC until now. However, I feel that the time has come to finally upgrade my GPU. I am considering either getting a 2nd GTX 580 or selling my GTX 580 and buying a single GTX 760 or 770. At the moment I am more inclined to go for a second GTX 580 as it would give me a much bigger performance boost than upgrading to a GTX760/770. But even though I game at 1920x1080 I am worried whether 1.5gb of VRAM is going to be sufficient in the near future. It seems that 2gb of VRAM has become the new standard and I don't want to find out in a few months that I have to upgrade again because I need more VRAM.

What do you think guys? I will appreciate all suggestions.

I go for the 760...770 is a little O/P imho and i think 2gb is going to be the min here shortly.

Just throwing it out there that a there have been some crazy deals on 7950s as well if your open to amd (I dont know your specific needs but they are close in performance to 760s)<--- no flame war please

You could even wait for the new 9xxx amd gpus to come out as well as there will most likely be a price drop on nividia 7xx cards i would assume:thumb:

I had a gtx 580 in my old system and did not feel there was a big enough performance increase from the 500 to 600 series of gpu's. However I think a gtx 780 is much more worth while if you are sticking with an nvidia card.

Imo I would buy another 580 or upgrade to a 780. My own personal upgrade habits are every other generation. So to me these choices make more sense then considering a 760 or 770.

Also, really the only thing I felt was starting to lack on my 580 was in some games I could not run with max AA but I could keep the resolution maxed. To me that was more than fine.

I would love to get a HD7950 or even HD7970 since the value for money that these cards provide is just amazing. But I am an Nvidia 3D vision owner so I am pretty much stuck with nvidia cards. frown.gif

Yea i understand just there was a 3l 2 fan model for like 175$ which is impossible to beat so i thought I'd throw it out there. 3D vision is sexy though and so is cuda optimization. ,

Unfortunately GTX 780 is way out of my budget. So my only options are either a second GTX 580 or GTX 760 or 770. Based on the benchmarks I've seen both the GTX 760 and 770 are powerful enough to max out all new games at 1920x1080 so both seem fine for my needs. With the GTX 760 I could even save some money and possibly get myself a second one in a few months which seems like a better option than a GTX 780 from a performance/price standpoint.

Get either a 760 or a 770. That extra VRAM will do you wonders once games get more demanding, and that way you can turn up all the eye candy wink.gif
