Looking to overclock an i5-2500k and using the Antec 620

So I'm basically building a new gaming PC on a somewhat limited budget:

i5-2500k 3.3Ghz Quad Core Sandy Bridge Processor
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Motherboard
1 (possibly 2) NVIDIA GTX 460 Graphics Cards
Antec Earthwatts 650 Watt Power Supply
6 GB RAM (Debating if I need 8 or 10 GB)

Now I have a very limited knowledge of computer hardware, but from what Ive researched online these parts should work fine with each other. My computer already has all of these parts installed with the exception of the motherboard and cpu. (Im basically just upgrading the motherboard and cpu, Ive already upgraded the graphics card and psu, RAM and Hardrive came stock with the pc - 6GB Ram, 640 Hardrive)

From what I understand, if I were to go with the i5-2500k and overclock it, I would need an additional cooling system.

Would the Antec Kuhler 620 H2O do the job? And how high (Ghz) would I want to safely overclock the processor on that system?

Any help would be appreciated. Please be patient as Im trying to learn.

Thanks,
Jackson

How are you gonna run the ram? 1 4g and a 2g strip? I would just grab a set of matched 8g ram, like 2x4g kit. I know I've had problems before running ram that were not the same. Also you should be able to get 4.2 to 4.5 with that cooler. I have a h100 and I get pretty good temps at 4.5 ( 62-65 top) If you need any help just ask and congrats on the upgrade. thumb.gif

Well I was just going to go with the stock RAM unless it seems necessary to upgrade, in which case I would buy a new set of RAM. Do you think its really worth upgrading from 6GB to 8GB? Ok thanks biggrin.gif Now would I need to install an additional fan for the push-pull, or is the single fan it comes with sufficient?

Most of the i5-2500k's I've seen where able to do 4.6ghz on a similar cooler (H50) without crazy temps or voltage.

You don't have to. I think you would only get a few deg better under load. If you have an extra 120mm fan then use it, but if you don't try it without the 2nd fan and see how it goes. thumb.gif
