Question about upgrading a Sager NP9130

Thread Starter
I have someone wanting to trade one of these + cash for my sig rig. I need the portability, so I'm considering it. I know the NP9150 is more popular due to a better power supply, so you can upgrade the GPU on it. I'm wondering if I can't just buy the 180w power brick for the NP9130. If so, the only real difference between the 2 would be the 9150 having a lit keyboard.

I tried asking this on notebookreview, but nobody responded. To sum up: Can I use the 180w brick from the 9150 on the 9130?

Well I had a response, but clicked something and lost it all when the page changed. LOL

the 180w brick should be compatible. I know the 8150 to 8130 worked.

On the 8130 the difference other than the power brick, was that the MXM slot only supported a 75w GPU. But i believe the coolers are identical and there are plenty of people who put a 100w GPU in it without issue. I know that the 8130 to 8150 has a different texture to the shell as well, its a textured plastic vs the xx50 series which is a rubberized finish, if I remember correctly.

I don't see why these same things wouldn't have carried over to the next generation.

Have you asked in the owners lounge on NBR? You have PM by the way.
