OC just incase

Hello. I was wondering. I have a MSI P55-GD65 with a Intel i5 750 (Stock Fan And Sync) Running in a Antec Three Hundred ATX tower with 4 fans. I do not need to overclock as of now. But when the time comes I would like to know if I could. So would this setup be sufficient enough for overclocking? And What are the normal temps for the i5. I heard people say the i5s and i7s have ran without a hitch above 95c.

I highly recommend using an after market cooler if your going to overclock.

I also wouldn't recommend going much over 85-90c under max load for long periods of time.

I don't like to go much over 75c, my 760 is clocked to 4.0 and starts acting funny at high temps.

Even an inexpensive cooler like a Hyper 212 will help a lot

The motherboard and cpu are capable of a decent overclock, but you'll need to address your cpu cooling solution. I would not run my processors that hot.

I was hoping to hear this- Yes the 4 extra fans in the case will help the stock fan keep the temps down if you need to overclock. ( I hate spending money ) In this economy you need to be more vigilant with your money than Jack Benny. I guess I will get me a after market cooler then. I will do a quick search.

ok searched
Found the Corsair H50 - Looks nice but it is over a hundred bucks
Found the TX3- This one looks very promising due to its price $16.99 Plus the option to add a second fan (which I will get when I buy it) The Extra fan will hopefully do about the same as the corsair.

Hey P-39. If you haven't hit the buy button yet on the TX3, for a little more money you could snag a COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO. For all intents it is a very updated version of the TX3 with fairly significant performance improvements due to the addition of one additional heat pipe giving the EVO a total of four heatpipes versus three heatpipes on the TX3.

You can also add a second fan to the EVO and then it really starts to shine at it's price point.
