Beeping HDD? WD3200BPVT 4 beeps, no boot.

I don't think I've ever heard a HDD beep at me before, this one does. It does 3 quick beeps, pause, then 1 beep again. Any idea what this means? I feel the head spinning, but it does this twice and never boots.

After you have checked and rechecked your cables, it sounds like the HDD might be dead. I would try using a different SATA power cable, different SATA data cable, and connect to a different port on your mobo. If it is still beeping or failing to boot, it is most likely your HDD. I have only heard of them beeping if there isn't enough power, but that does not seem to be your case. You could also try it in another system, as a secondary drive, just to see if it is being recognized. If it is recognized on a second machine, then you could run a chkdsk on it, or on your system if you have the means to boot into a BartPE disc or other. If your computer just sits there and doesn't move around a lot, it might be hard to believe that the HDD went bad, but these things happen completely at random.

Well figured out the laptop was dropped when it was on. The heads are misaligned so thats what I figure is causing the beeps.
