Quick review of amazon shows the superclocked EVGA to be cheaper than any of the other versions strangely enough. From what people have been saying in this thread, it appears that the EVGA Classified is the one that would be most comparable to the MSI Lightning; but you would be looking at probably 60 extra dollars at least over the base EVGA 780. It all boils down to the silicone lottery in the end though. It looks like the superclock would net you a higher guaranteed minimum on your clocks at stock anyway versus the regular. Good luck in your search.

the 780 superclocked shouldnt even be compared to the lightning

superclocked from evga -

reference pcb

more money for a slight overclock, aka *superclocked* marketing team costing you extra

reference cooler ones are not ever going to be comparable to the trifrozr

ACX cooler ones do better but trifrozr i believe cools a bit better still

lightning -

full custom pcb

paying more for better components and huge overclock potential, not for a slight overclock with the marketing team hoping you gobble it up

trifrozr cooler

built to perform and its really not that much more than the "superclocked" card.

I was originally going to get the plain Twin Frozr. This is definitely what drew me to the lightning. I'm counting on longevity plus potentially higher overclocks due to the above mentioned reasons.

P2 has higher efficiency and higher end Caps the modular board compared to that of the G2:

As said higher efficiency

Capxon´s on the modular board have been replaced with Nippon Chemi-Con´s

As well as a hybrid fan mode added

I don't think I've seen my bottom card go over 65 deg on the other hand, so it's doing great. There's a little less than half a slot between the cards with my mobo (Maximus Hero VI) and I think that may be the issue, but I have 1 200mm intake fan, and 2 140mm's blowing air directly at the cards from the bottom and middle of the case and it doesn't seem like it does much to help even when I ramp them all the way up. The thought crossed my mind for a moment to consider getting a different motherboard with more PCI slots on it so I could space them apart a little better, but that just seems like a dumb idea the more I think about it...

Somebody else asked me, with my setup...why didn't I get two reference cards instead. I got both Lightnings for $499 a piece brand new which was the same price reference cards were going for at the time, so I figured, why not? I like you am also considering going under water because of this lol...

I fall in love with this whistle.gifwubsmiley.gif

if my screen goes black while overclocking/stress testing the card, does that mean my PSU cant handle it? its only 620W
post #2420 of 5050
that means your overclock was instable and the drivers crashed. Unless your entire rig shut down, then its the psu.
