I was thinking about picking up a third lightning for 3 way sli. My concern is that will 3 way sli work if 2 of the cards have Elpidia memory and the new has Hynix memory. Does anyone have a clue about this?

Well, I was going to join this club today, but upon inspection of the card, there was much left to be desired. The card had obviously been abused.

Even though I'm running a Hynix card and an Elpida card in sli, I'm having a bad experience getting voltages in check with the stock Skynet bios on both cards. For some reason my Hynix card is always .1 volt lower than the Elpida card at the same offset when settings are synced between cards. This problem also persists when cards are not in sync...so I've tried using the voltage tool to compensate but it's been extremely difficult to get anything going over 1260mhz when sli is on.

This issue does NOT occur however in the stock bios nor the Skynet LN2 bios. The LN2 bios though requires me to give a massive volt increase to both cards just to get stable over 1280 core, in the neighborhood of 1.363 and up. So far I'm thinking it's a bios issue, because when sli is turned off, my Hynix card easily clocks to around 1360 core, and the Elpida card has at least been tested to 1280...with far less voltage required then when sli is active. Is anyone else having similar issues? The elpida card is running rev 2 bios and the Hynix rev 4...but is it possible to flash rev 4 to the elpida card or is that a no-no? I'm desperate to try anything at this point to try to work out these kinks!

All I know is that the overclocking on this MSI GTX 780 Lightning has been wonky. This is my first MSI product and because it is all over the place with its finicky behavior, I'd have to say this is my last MSI product. My best experience with any video card products has been with EVGA. I'm thinking of selling my Lightning and pick up a EVGA card again. Know anyone interested?

Sorry to hear. Did the UPS man use it as a football or something?

It was not shipped, I used the microcenter in store pickup. The card had a light coat of something greasy that was sloppily cleaned off, the cooler did not line up properly with the PCB, the extra vrm bracket was missing, and it smelled bad. I have had real good luck with microcenter and used items, but this time I had to pass.

Maybe someone tried to clean the glue off the shroud,.. I just had to clean mine withalcohol and took some time and scrubbing. Although the other issues are no good. They have the greatest customer service and mightoffer you a new one at a largely discounted price.

Remember, customer is always right. Especially when it comes to a 500-600$ gpu

I was contemplating trying to pick up a used one as well. Thanks for the warning on potential issues. Between that and others having issues with sli, I might just stick with one card for now. I'm not sure that buying a used one with just a 90 day warranty would be worth the savings over a new one.

Micro center is pretty awesome. I got my i7 3770 k for just 220 bucks. Door busters rock. It was less than I paid for my i7 860 back in the day.
