Having a problem with my lightnings rebooting the pc under load when in SLI.
I had it up and running with a single video card (780 Lightning) for the past few weeks. My NZXT Kraken Brackets finally arrived, so I put them on both my cards, and wired everything into the case. The specs I'm running are:
3570k @ 4.4 stock volts
ASRock z77 Extreme3
32gb DDR3, Patriot and Geil mix
240gb Crucial SSD
1x 4tb Seagate HDD
1x 2tb WD HDD
10 case fans via a fan hub in my Phanteks Enthoo Primo case.
EVGA Supernova G2 1000w
I have 3 AIO coolers in the case, 1 corsair h100i on the CPU, and 2 corsair H90's on the GPU's.
When running either card by itself, I have no issues loading the card (I'm using Unigine Valley to benchmark) Temps with this setup are not going higher than 50c.
Once I enable SLI and put the same load on the card, in anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, the screen goes black and the PC reboots.
Everyone is pointing to the PSU as an issue, but I ran these 2 cards on a corsair 750w when I first got them, and didn't have any problems.
I hooked the corsair back up, same issue. I reinstalled windows to try a clean driver environment, same issue. I tried moving around the red PCIE plugs to different available slots on the PSU, same issue. I took 3 sticks of ram out of the pc and ran it with a single stick, same issue. I'm at a loss as to what to do next.
Is there any chance that with the power draw I'm putting on the PSU, that it's failing to provide enough stable to the cards? Does anyone have any other ideas for me to try?
I'm going nuts here
