Using afterburner. Card is for LN2 so I don't want to sell it on then find out it needs to be RMA'd or something. Especially after I lather it in Vaseline.

I saw similar when playing with the card on air, set fan speed to max in AB & the outer fans spin up while the center fan went into slow mode.

Good to know. I guess it's temp based or something then? though, hard to believe it would be so cold it could turn off.

Not really sure, I usually just set fans to 100% if the card is on air, never used them with auto or a speed profile.

this seems like a driver issue, go to guru3D and get DDU(display driver uninstaller) and use this program to clean up any old installed drivers, then try again to install them and see what happens smile.gif els come back here smile.gif

thanks for the reply! oddly enough it stopped crashing when i booted this morning and i havent had any problems at all. didn't even touch anything.

Another question: what are the benefits of flashing a bios vs using rbby's tool. Seems like you could get about all you can out of the card with just rbby so is flashing skynet even worth it?

Skynet is better for stability, and also for achiving way higher clocks, because of the 300% power limit smile.gif

Hi all,
I just got a new lightning card, but this is the first OC video card I get.

Can you tell me which are the main point to get the max out of this card staying with stock air cooling?

I just tried some change trough afterburner, but really I do not know what I am doing...

Any advice should be really appreciated.

Bye,
Straniero

Flash it with skyn3t´s bios found on page 1

Set a custom fan curve in afterburner to go from 26% @20 celsius, to 100% @60 celsius

Pull the juice up

set the core to 300 ish

set the mems to (depending on mem) 200 ish

if you have hynix or samsung mems then add an extra 200 ish to the mems.

Go in game, spawn - have fun!

If you're looking to get the absolute most out of your card, well since every card is an individual you need to just try and see what you get. Use a stressing software like Kombustor or similar and just push the dials until the tests makes your system crash. Then back the dials a little and you're pretty much set.

it's all about finding that magic sweet spot between core clock and mems in what your specific card components will allow. Temperature and Power delivery is of essence obviously.

please add me...Just got my 780L about a week ago, love it but, I didn't get it with the hynix or samsung memory. Oh well, stll a very nice card and does overclock nicely. I am wanting to flash my bios, doing the reading on that now, hopefully I can get that done soon. This is a great forum and have read every post from the beginning to the....well the end! cheers.gif

Well, I think Crysis 3 just killed my card lol. Was using the stock bios with an extra 87 mv for a fairly mild overclock. Temps weren't even that high, 80C after an hour of playing (on air obviously). But I alt-tabbed out to adjust some fan settings and screen went black. Fans fire up to maximum and won't post any video. I guess it's RMA time, hopefully I get back a decent card for my dead Hynix/75% ASIC card.
