What are your temps when both cards are at 98-99% load for a good while? Because I'm heaving heat problems with the top card. It hits 83°C with fanspeed @ 70% while bottom one is at ~61°C. This is with stock volts and 1254 core. With an offset of -100mV and 1100 core the temperatures of the top card are ~75°C.

Now 83°C might not be problem but in a couple months this will be ~93°C when ambients are 30°C+ in the room. Right now at ~20°C.

I only recently acquired the second card and haven't done heavy benching with the pair yet. But with one card I had a really aggressive fan profile with it ramping up to 100% fan speed at 70C to keep temps down. I maxed out at 66C with vcore +100 and a core clock of around 1450 with one card on that fan profile. With the two cards using the same fan profile they go up to about 62 (bottom) and 77 (top) but that is with light benching. I could probably easily reach 80+ though if I upped the vcore.

Temp question guys...
Before continuing I own this case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139015

I have 2 intake 120mm fans
1 exhaust 120mm fan
and 2 h105 water cooler 120mm exhaust fans at the top.

I'm currently playing sub 1080p (1050p) ultra settings full screen.

I am also using the stock fan profile with ambient of 24c

I was playing bf4 and when I checked temps I realized it was reaching as high as 79c max temp and this was a regular occurrence when playing bf4 (haven't checked in other games)

Now my question is given the info above is the temperature acceptable or is it possible the cooler isn't properly mounted? ( I had concerns with some 'warping' of the card previously but was told it was normal) and I also understand I can reduce the temps by making a custom fan profile but my main concern is if these temps are normal to begin with. I'd imagine with the lightnings overdone cooling it should be running cooler than this.

Thanks for any input.

Stock fan profile? Create a custom fan profile and you should be fine. You should honestly EXPECT those temps with the stock profile, nothing wrong with that honestly...

If you have a low ASIC card, it may run a few degrees hotter than someone else's as well, so keep that in mind as well. Seems legit to me though...

Hmm, okay. Thanks for replying. The fans are too noisy at 100% for my taste. I guess my case is a problem because it is too small and has not the best airflow. I ordered a Coolermaster HAFX, I hope this will give another 5-10°C.

Isn't it that the low ASIC cards are cooler because of the higher leakage? This is also why the need more volts for given clocks. The high ASIC cards have low leakage and thus run hotter?

Just info guys : don't focus on ASIC quality smile.gif because sometimes with low ASIC you'll get good OC's performance and sometimes with high ASIC you'll get average or even lower OC's performance...just like mine with ASIC of 84% it should be good OC but only stable at 1293MHz (I can set it +320 and GPU-Z reads it as 1300MHz, Valley benchmark also reads it as 1300MHz but in AB sensor it reads as 1293MHz).
Beyond +320MHz I still can do benchmark but with artifacts ^_^ and max at 1359MHz. or +380 for core and +200 for memory with Skyn3t's modded BIOS.

The logo and led colors are completely normal for a flashed bios. It won't matter the load on the flashed bios. It should always be blue. The powerlimit should be much less of a concern. As long as the card is not throttling your performance, the power limit is not an issue. Playing Thief with my card right now, the power target occasionally hits 91% with my core at 1350. That is with the game at a locked 60 fps and all settings maxed including super sampling. Crysis 3 on the other hand with my gpu core at 1415 will push the power limit to around 116 or so when the action gets really heavy.

On another note, afterburner today said that my current beta 18 is set to expire in about a week or so. mad.gif Are they supposed to have another version out soon? They have the 290x lightning out now. They will need an updated one for that I'm sure.

OK guys, I now bought a second 780 Lightning and now: B1, Hynix, ASIC 76% smile.gif. First test: 1250MHz @ stock (1,16V) stable. I'm very happy with! biggrin.gif
