Excellent. I was hoping that they would get it out before 18 expired.

folks,

if my lightning card shows artifacts at:

GPU: ~1220Mhz
core voltage: ~1.2xx
Temp: 75C temp (air-cooled)
BIOS: skyn3t

(i don't care about overclocking the Elpida memory as it's already pointless to begin with)

Does that mean I'm already hitting the limit of the gpu? So there's no point going water or even LN2 cooling. Is that a correct assumption or am i missing anything?

By serial # i believe. I'd let anyone to keep me honest, but i guess 07S will have Elpida (which is what i have):

602-V296-05Sxxxxx --> Hynix
602-V296-06Sxxxxx --> hynix
602-V296-07S or 08S --> Elpida
602-V296-03S --> probably Samsung

Not sure if we can tell by serial #, my card with elpida is 602-V296-03S, the samsung card is 602-V296-07S.
Only way to tell for sure is visually check, or check memory type in current gpu-z or nvidia inspector.

I would use rbby's tool and up the voltage to about 1.3 volts and see if that clears it up and allows you to go higher. Turn the fans up to 100% to eliminate any potential issue with heat. That seems a bit low for an lightning. I would think around 1250 or so at least is possible.

so i guess msi support is wrong then...that's how i got the nomenclature...and they even refer to their bioses by that convention (memory)

i know right ...that's why i'm thinking of returning the card. I guess i got a lemon.

Msi sent me multiple bioses, all of them worked but they're no better. Primary and LN2 overclocks just the same, in fact i don't see any gains using skyn3t on LN2 mode. I can do up 1240Mhz (+100mV) works good on Unigine Valley and some games but still crashes on Heaven 4.0 and Tomb Raider. rbby tool doesn't work on my computer though, so my options are limited.

In getting my card, the goal that I had for my overclock was 1250. My hope was to get to 1300 or maybe even higher. If I hadn't been able to clock to at least 1250, I would have been very disappointed. I'm sorry that it seems to be an underwhelming clocker. My card will do 1350+ on +100 voltage. Every card is going to be different though.

Also, they have a new Rbbys tool out that works with Afterburner beta 19. I had to grab it myself today. I went to up my voltage with rbby's tool, and it didn't work. Grabbing the latest tool cleared it right up. It might be worth a try.

honestly, I envy you guys who had been able to achieve >1220 stable on gpu and those who at least could make +100mhz on memory. I can't do more than 40 stable on memory. I bought the card on sale so it's a tough decision for me whether or not to replace it. It's like owning a lightning at the price of a little over the reference 780 card. But then again, I wouldn't mind if I pay $50-100 more on a regular-priced lightning if I can overclock the gpu and memory more. Was actually planning to slap a water bock.

I'm disappointed with the overclock, but I love the card because of the build quality. Now I'm considering either the 780 Ti or r9 290x lightning as the replacement.
