That is very interesting! My understanding is they are no longer being made...so I guess EU just hasn't sold through the stocks. They really sold strongly back when the 780 received its price cut. After that, they were tough to find and continue to be (other than eBay). You can still find some great cards on eBay. I'm not afraid of it (obviously, I bought one there!) - partially because MSI has a card-based warranty and plus most people will give you their original store receipt and the box and such.

Playing with 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme...need to switch to the LN2 BIOS the stock BIOS is all whacky with the boost stuff.

Game stable!
Getting me excited for mine to arrive! Picked one up from an OCN member for $500. Going to take me a little bit to actually get it in the system though, as I need to get the EK block for it as well as bend some new pipe to fit in my loop. Now what to do with your old Matrix 7970.....

Welcome! It seems to be about the only place that you are going to find Lightning cards these days.

Anyone have an experience with Lightning and Classified 780 in sli? I am still contemplating sli, and that would likely be what I would have to go with if I wanted to get a card that wasn't factory recertified. The problem is that the full cover waterblocks don't line up quite correctly judging by pictures. I guess that I could try just using tubing to make the link.

Lightning Block

Classified Block

Extremely minor, but I think the full cover block for the Lightning just looks better too.

Much appreciated!

It's not very heavy on the GPUs, but 90% of my game time is competitive stuff. The other 10% being EUIV and the like tongue.gif

Heck, I wouldn't even be switching out my 7970 if it weren't for G-Sync and Shadowplay. So excite for those though, and of course to see how far I can push this 780 Lightning under water!

Uhm not sure if I'm doing it right but hi guys, I got my 780 Lightning last month and just discovered this thread. I'm generally new to overclocking and am wondering if I had bad luck with the silicon lottery because my card doesn't like to overclock that much even with the LN2 BIOS. Here is what GPU-Z says

And these are my MSI Afterburner settings

I tried raising the core voltage but even with +62mV I still get artifacts in Valley/3DMark if I raise the clocks any further. Any advice on what else I could try?

P.S. GPU-Z validation link http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/h4g5p/

Focus on core clock at first, rather than memory. Keep memory at stock, increase core until unstable. Work back one step, and then work on memory.

So I picked up a second 780 lightning for SLI. One has Elpida (A1), the other is Hynix (B1). Stupid me thought 860w would be enough overhead to OC (it's not). I burned out one Corsair AX860 so I have backed down the OC to +100 core, +50 memory until I get a better PSU. PSU will be my next upgrade. Here is a link to some pictures and my build info:

Even overclocked you're only looking at ~750-800W at max load, which would be Furmark and Prime 95 at the same time. That PSU can draw over 1000W.

Is there a way to keep the Lightning logo a solid color of my choice, for example keep it a solid blue?

This is my first post on these forums, please be gentle wink.gif

Thanks for the tip but after trying it without any memory OC I still get heavy artifacts in games and Valley, no matter what core voltage. Seems that mine won't go higher than 1140 core frown.gif
