On another note, if SkyN3t is reading... can we get another vbios that takes either the stock or LN2 bios and simply increases plimit? Or increases plimit and default bios to 1.2v? Even just a bios that increases the plimit would be nice for day-to-day use.

(note: looking for a bios that doesn't remove boost etc.)

So you think with boost enable you going to score better and going to boost on top of your +1300? You know what I mean.

Ps: I'm watch you from the satellite. tongue.gif

Windows 8 is OK now with the proper updated systeminfo http://www.ocaholic.ch/uploads/CPUZ/Futuremark_SystemInfo_4_20_166.msi

Unfortunately it still sucks for benchmarks except for 3dmark (just 3dmark, not 3d11 or the rest).

You can see in my post at #472 I was at 11.4K in firestrike at 1500 core, at 1359 core (with some throttling) I scored 10.8K (4770k at 4.5ghz for both). Both done in win8 though, not sure just how much scoring difference there is in the different OSes.
I'm not sure why but I have lower 3DMark 11 CPU score in Windows 8 compared to 7. Difference is at least few hundred points, with my friend's 3570K it's even more. I've tested with fresh installs too and and situation remains the same. It's not enough for me to downgrade back to 7 though.

No, that's not what I'm necessarily getting at. My question for a bios which only changes plimit is for stability reasons, I'm assuming here that the less which is changed in the bios the more likely it is to be stable, right? through the use of rbby tool we can get the voltage up and just need the plimit to increase a bit beyond the measly 109% that MSI has dictated to us, and for me I don't need max clocks all the time, but getting something a little bit better than stock bios would be nice if it could be stable all the time. The LN2 bios that you uploaded just doesn't sit well with my card for regular use.

Edit: And I don't care much for bench scores, I care more for getting good FPS at 1440p in the games I play thumb.gif

Edit2: accidentally quoted myself instead of editing the last post. Dang.

Ok after some more trial and error I found out what was holding me back.
I've been using the wrong version of After Burner... That's why voltages were not changing for me.

Now I've got the right one - the one for Lightning cards - Rbby258 is working and I get the 1.3v yay.
Even better is I get this in both the MSI 300% (V29611L1) bios and Skynet's

Just run several benchmarks at 130% and 1.3v at 1400 core in SLI - not quite stable but nearly there.
So things are really looking up.

The MSI 300% (V29611L1) bios seems to now give me everything I want. Up to 1.3v (reports up to 1.35 actual) and enough Power to blow the VRM's into orbit.
Even at 130% on Air the VRM area is very warm... So added some fans while benching. Unlike Skynet's bios it starts low and includes boost by default so it could be used for more than just benchmarking.

Really very happy with these cards now. All it took was getting the right Bios. thumb.gif

heck, how did you managed to flash a 780 vbios into a gtx 260? tongue.gif

just mess with ya.

The problem messing with bios is when you touch the memory blocks into bios. the rest is free to mod "when you know what you are doing" nothing biggie. just unlock something that is should come from factory and disable something that boost wrong tongue.gif.

I was talking with OP today. I'm working in the stock primary bios in MSI LT. so it will have the same spec's but stock bios and LN2 are two different bios from each other when it come's to compare bios to bios. so keep eye open it may be release any time this week. I just need to release some work to have a bit free time to finish it.

Alrighty, I look forward to seeing that bios, as it may be the middleground I've been looking for thumb.gif

Also... the GTX260 was my backup card for the time between when my HOF was sent in and my Lightning came in the mail. I'll go change that real quick... biggrin.gif

Is there no way to make a BIOS that support 1.3v skyn3t?
You have to believe I have tried EVERYTHING to raise my voltage higher than 1.212, rubytool doesn't work for some reason.
I can raise the voltage with the tool but it's locked at 37 voltage...

I think it has to do with my card being a 780 Asus flashed with a lightning bios.

LOOK WHUT I JUST DID! biggrin.gif

11,000 baby! http://www.3dmark.com/fs/853290 and http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7144175

If 11,000 in Firestrike isn't impressive to you, well it is to me tongue.gif

Very happy this card is finally beating my HOF. I also completed Valley with 75.3fps average not sure how good this is.

I used a different version of the voltage tool and now the voltage is actually applying and letting this card stretch its legs. The Firestrike test was completed with a 1382mhz core clock and the 3Dmark11 was completed with 1346mhz I believe. Now I need to sleep because I have work in 3 hours?... kill me.
