there you are. I read that a couple days ago, for those that want to keep the heat down this is perfect. after you get the card under water you may have some improvement. can't tell you going to hit the 1400 or get right behind the classy but a lot things going to change in OC ability with the EK block. for those don't want to go full water block get a universal water block some heat sink and slap it on the LT and make sure some extra fan blowing to the VRM and you good to go.

universal water block just for reference.

What exactly is holding this card back ?

Because it's designed to be the highest clocking 780 there is!

the software support, the card design itself is amazing, absolutely stunning, however msi gimped it in the software department.

its like saying nasa built the most technologically advanced spaceship in the world, then never trained anyone how to fly it so it kinda just sits there.

Voltage, but it seems that can be changed with Rbby's tool. I haven't attempted anything higher than 1300 yet, but 1300 has been solid for playing WoW and counterstrike for a few hours with no issues.

At least Skynet and others have done a great job putting together a bios for the Lightning owners.
If MSI gets permission from Nvidia to release a proper bios and voltage unlock for this card, it will help this card. But will Nvidia allow it? thinking.gif

Have they done that in the past lightning editions? The card is the most capable card out right now as far as overclocking hardware goes (arguably better than classified) and it's advertised as having voltage control options with a 300% power target, yet non of that is there...

When the GTX 680 Lightning first launched, there was unlocked voltage control. But Nvidia jumped on that immediately, fearing that users would damage their cards and want returns, etc etc. MSI planned to do so with the 300% power target and with voltage control. At that price point and the amount of hype put into it, I would hope they had the intention to. It just depends if Nvidia is willing to give the Lightning some room to fly.
