With all the finaly needed DX and API imrpovements coming over the next 2 years...cpu's are going to become less relevant in gaming which is a good thing. So yeah a 4770k overclocked or even stock will suit someone for 4-5 years before starting to show its age and even then itll still be a solid side cpu...or whatever.

and the new refresh such as the 4790k is only going to have a 100mhz stock bump so now they do 4ghz turbo;d and a tim replacement under the lid so they obv are using a newer TIM what kind idk yet....will it be the difrence of a delided cpu no....ptly be like a 5-8c improvement at most but anything is better than what the do at stock...lol

i go with the logic of once in awhile refresh it all and that's it
i moved from q8200 in to i7 4770k
so yeah when they first came out i5 i7 at that time where big deal 2x performance per core and still dint upgrade till i ended the target cycle
now that i own the i7 4770k im like *** what can intel do better then this really is stupid fast does not need even an overclock at all
for my editing needs and gaming it does the job fast
