It'd be in his best interest to make the company succeed, not screw it over.

Think about it. If the company becomes more profitable and more successful, that reflects better on him. He gets more bonuses, more awards, more perks, and more status from all over the world.

Money being the prime motivation goes right out the window.

Plus, this is all alleged, Nothing's been proven and it could just as well be a horrible mistake.

Dude, you should eat less chocolate and more smart food. wink.gif They were greedy and corrupt...well if they are proven guilty.

Tommy was with them for 12 years and HTC had massive influence from him. He put his life into that place.

Somebody who put that much of their blood, sweat, and tears into a company wouldn't just stab them in the back.

Of course they would. All it would take is for an opportunity to arise that would make the plan seem viable. Its about money, plain and simple. Im sure he was well paid for his work at HTC, but it would be only a fraction of what he got if he started his own successful phone company.

You don't know his pay now do you?

All it would take to for him to leave, is to see an opportunity that would make him even 25-30% more than what he is making, and that would be worth it for him. It's business, and businessman think profit, they don't care about screwing over a company they work for if that means they can make 1 mill more a year.

Edit: And it doesn't matter if he worked with them for 2 years or over a decade. Money is money. If you see an opportunity to have more of it, most people take it.

It doesn't make sense.
There's no way Tommy and Wu would even be capable of doing this. They've always been part of an upstanding company. confused.gif

Seems like people know this too, because the stock price just jumped up when the arrests were announced.

Here's a valuable free lesson for you:
You never REALLY know anybody. Take it from me.
I've seen people I thought I knew (was even married to) do things you would never have believed in a million years.

You might be a big fan of his, but don't think you know what's going on in someone else's head, because you never will.

Moral of this story: Its the real world, people who are like this don't care what/who they screw over, how long they've been there, relationship status, etc., if they want something, or if they just want to do something else, they literally will stab whomever/whatever they have to in the back, lie, cheat, steal, to attain what they want. It is part of human nature that some of us have been able to weed out.

I would never be able to do something like this, but some people just seemingly lack any sort of conscience. If I had anywhere near the money he was making I would be happy with that, but maybe he just wanted more.

See, there's another problem.

We've established this guy's a business man who knows the numbers. He also supposedly wanted to start his own cell phone company and make more money, right?

That's where it all falls apart.

A high up executive like him would know EXACTLY how much security and and surveillance is around this sensitive data. Especially when we're talking about trade secrets.
There's always somebody higher up watching over it and trying to steal it would guarantee you getting caught.

PLUS, if he did do it, there's no chance any other business would want anything to do with him.

How's he going to get partners? Distributors? Third party vendors?

Once this leaked (And it would leak) nobody would trust him. His business wouldn't go anywhere.

A guy this smart would see that coming a mile away. And combined with everything else, it'd be a HORRIBLE decision overall.

Sometimes people make stupid mistakes, and theres a chance that he thought he wouldn't get caught. We may never know, we may find out, but whats done is done.

I understand, when our idols do something really stupid or destroy their lives, it can be easy to sympathize or try to say that it isn't true.

Frick you know how he was caught... this is an easy one.

Someone talked, they were in on it and decided to pull out at the last minute and ratted him out. Also, more motive behind you "Taking someone out", perhaps the person who we all know is going to be anonymous will be the one taking over said "open position".

If you had the opportunity to make more money would you? ---That question is a tow way street, if this guy steals info you can stab him and the back and take his job and make more money because you worked with the guy for years and can produce similar designs
My bet is is that one of he "co-conspirators" told on him.
