I'm slowly going insane. - Page 2

I've run into the same issue before. First thought it was my internet, then realized it was the adapter (drivers were never an issue).

For my desktop: turned out my wifi pci adapter got damaged somehow (maybe excessive heat from the gpu and case). So ive had to replace it before.

For my laptop: My laptop's internal wireless died and had to get a dongle to be able to run wifi. However the usb got so hot i've had to replace the dongle several times. Ended up using a usb extender and dont have any problems anymore.

Sounds to me like you have the same issue i've had. You're probably going to need a replacement for your adapter.

I agree it does sound like hardware issue

I'd agree but the fact that my dongle works anywhere but home is a oddity on it's own, we might be running into a more perplexed problem than anticipated.

FWIW I hate using wifi, and all connections in my house are via ethernet under the carpet. It saves *so* much headache
Yeah, it seems likely.

I do too, but it;s the only option. Wood floor + old house frown.gif

That's what I'm thinking.

I dunno though. I can't test as it's my rig, and I can't move it.

Why not do what I did 3930K? I drilled small hole through corner of room and ran cables through that.

Just out of curiosity and since we're considering every option...what wifi channels have you tried?  Is your router on auto-channel search now?  I ask because as tech support I've had callers who went from crap wifi performance to full speed ahead, just by setting to a specific channel instead of auto.

Don't have space anyways... it's just an impossibility.

Set it to channel one, which was clear of any neighbours.
