You're kinda in a rock and a hard place then. Because, with your current PSU, tri sli is not going to happen. and if you can't spend another 300 in the future, then SLI 770s are you only option.

By 300 in the future I mean, 780 is is 650 so, it would be 1300 total. I believe this is your best option. If you can't, 770s SLI is your only option.

I'll do some research and see if the extra 2GB of VRAM on a 770 would actually benefit you any. I know it will, I just don't know if it will actually be enough for the extra cost.

I game on a 7870 at 4800x900. I max out everything outside of Crysis 3 and Metro. Since you have a 580 you can just grab another and do triple monitor easy. If you wanna stay single. I recommend a 770 and higher. 4gb of Vram would be ideal

The extra $300 for getting dual 780s is so ever slightly, just barely, possible if I extend my budget a bit. But the real question would be if my PSU could handle dual 780s. I don't plan on OCing much, or at all.

Unless you run like 40 fans, I'd say your fine. tongue.gif The cards draw 250 watts each, and your 4670k draws 84 watts max. That's less than 600 watts. I believe a 700-750 watts PSU would be the least I would recommend, your 800 watt should be just fine.

Heck with my 3570K at 1.2v @ 4.4ghz with my 7950 overclocked at 1200/1600 @ 1.3v my PSU pulls at most some where around 280watts and thats playing BF3 with the high preset using SSAO instead of HBAO at 1080p. Granted I think my psu is getting weak because my video cards voltage droops the higher the load on it, which Ive never seen happen before.

Another reason I recommend the 780 over the 770 is that it has about a 30% performance increase. I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't think it was worth it for myself. (I'm getting pretty much the same set up)

I just have to get my cards and another 1080P monitor. Once my refund for my cards come in, I'm picking up a single 780, and then will be picking up another one soon.

OH, I'm completely forgot to mention. Hopefully the 9XXX series of AMD's cards will be out in the next two months, and hopefully they compete enough for Nvidia to drop the prices of their GPUs. If you're willing to wait, you might not have to extend your budget that much. I am just getting one now because I can't stand not having a graphics card.

That's usually how it goes. Years ago I bought a single 580, 3 months down the road I bought another for SLI.

As you are needing it ASAP, the 770s will be good. They are essentially 680s with higher memory speeds though, probably why you will have more people saying get 1 780 then another later on.

Or as jameyscott said wait till the new AMD cards arrive. They may compete so it could drop prices slightly on the 700 series.
