Windows 8 HDMI problem. Some of the screen missing

Hi everyone

When I try to connect my laptop to an external monitor (be it a TV or a computer monitor), some of the picture is missing.
The edges all around the screen gets cut off. I had the same problem when I tried to connect my desktop to a TV via HDMI.

The resolutions should match. The resolution on the laptop is 1080p and so is the monitor. Both 60 Hz, and they are 16:9.

The laptop is an ASUS N55SF

Does anyone know how to fix it ?

Regards

under setting in your tv look for an option "mode selection" or something similar. it should give you an option in which the tv should operate. I think it's PC or HDTV

have you tried to use the auto adjust feature on your monitor? is GPU scaling active?

Nice... Thanks for the advice. I found it under Size and settings menu on the monitor. I had to use screen fit instead of 16:9 (I gave you a +rep)
