plugging a mouse into a keyboards usb port

Thread Starter
Is a usb passthrough on a keyboard the same speed as a direct connection?

If i plugged a mouse into the keyboard with there be any difference in latency to connecting the mouse directly to the pc ( im talking milliseconds) Keyboard example being ttesports meka which has 2 passthrough ports

There would probably be some slight difference in speed, but unless you're using a terribad keyboard your mouse will work fine. I have my G700s' wireless usb plugged into my Razer Blackwidow and I have no problems thumb.gif

As long as its pass through only (i.e. literally connects two ends together) then you will not even be able to measure the latency difference. If the keyboard does any crap to the circuit (I can't imagine it would) then there's potential for a measurable difference - however I can almost bet my house it will be the exact same as plugging it in to your motherboard's USB port "directly".

If the keyboard has only one cable connection to the computer then the built in USB hub will minimize bandwidth available to the devices connected to it, though for a mouse it won't matter. If it has a separate USB connection for the additional port on the keyboard, then even better!
