Upgrade help

Thread Starter
I was thinking of upgrading my rig and was wondering how much of a performance boost I might get if I upgraded to the GTX 770. I want to get two of them which I know would be a lot better than what I currently have, but I won't be able to get both of them at the same time.

Would one GTX 770 perform that much better than the two GTX 285's that I currently have or should I wait until I can actually afford both of the new cards before I upgrade?

You can definitely get one and get another one when you have the money. wink.gif

A single 770 will perform better than your two 285's. I don't know what your personal best 3dMark11 score is, but i got the fastest 285 SLI score, and compared it to my single 770's score. My 770 is 23% faster, and at stock, it should be about 14% faster (i guess)

Correct if I'm wrong but 285's don't have dx11 support right? 3Dmark11 is a dx11 benchmark.

You are correct: 285s do not support directx 11 but you can still run it. I can't recall my exact score but I know it was low relative to other scores that I saw. I bit the bullet and bought the EVGA GTX 770 4GB Classified and it destroyed my SLI 285s. In the Uningine Valley benchmark, it ran at a solid framerate the whole time on ultra with 8xAA and 1920x1200 so I'm amazed by the performance so far.

Problem is, it takes forever to boot up now but I think I can solve that by updating the BIOS. My BIOS version is way outdated...
Hopefully that's fixes it

I don't know where you live. But I saw somebody selling two gtx 770s (virtually new) in this forum right now (http://www.overclock.net/t/1428876/evga-gtx-770-2gb). If you live in USA, this might be a good option for you.
