4670k high temps on mild OC

I'm testing a new rig (4670K + MAXIMUS VI HERO + H100i + G.SKILL TRIDENT X 2400 MHZ CL10 + OCZ 750W - NO GFX CARD YET). I do a mild OC (4.4) with vCore 1.180 - LLC off and when I test the stability PRIME 95 it says everything it's stable and the maximum temperature reaches 74 degrees (hottest core) but when I use other stability tests like IBT or AIDA64 (a lots of ram tested i think), after a few seconds it reaches 99 degrees and throttels itself. I can see a HUGE SPIKE vCore 1.320 before the rise of the temps! Is it possible that's a RAM/NB problem?

I've tested the system with RAM to XMP and manual mode set 1600 MHz, seems the problem persists.

@stock it happens again but not that much (vCore 1.216 temps @ 70C)

I'm lost. The problem also happens when I play games.

@stock: If I set manual vCore, and OFF LLC, I can "control" the spike (from 1.28v to 1.216v) but the CPU throttles itself...

Any idea? Thanks in advance!

what games? also 1.3 vcore pushing can do this easily as haswell is a hot hot hot little bugger! ( hint hint delid it!)

BF3 & BF3 MP, Crysis 2 & 3 basically.

It's not normal that @ stock the hottest core reaches 88°C in IBT, and 72°C in BF3 Multiplayer. The room temp is 23°C and the case has a well airflow btw (Corsair 500r).

actually it is as my IVY gets to mid 50's on stock clocks and normal vcore. you're putting in a lot for undelidded haswell which makes it run so hot! so delid it! tongue.gif
