Title says it all, looking to have a second pc capable of playing games at low to medium settings at 1080p 30- 50fps , mainly used for movies with the gf and games when mates come around...

Intel build ..

Motherboard.. Asrock b75 mini itx $92

Case... Bitfenix mini itx case $99

PSU.. Corsair cx500 $77

GPU... 7770 (i have a spare one) $0

Ram 4 gig 1333 patriot s $37 (will grab another 4 gig later)

Hard drive 500 gig seagate sata3 $56 (will grab a 2tb later)

CPU.. Intel G2130 $85

Total... $446

AMD build ..

Motherboard .. MSI fm2 a75ia mini itx $109

CPU a8 5600k $110

PSU.. corsair cx500 $77

GPU 7770 $0

Ram 4 gig 1333 patriot s $37

Hard drive seagate 500gig $56

Case Bitfenix prodigy mini itx $99

Total ... $478

With the intel build i think i would have more options for upgrading to say a i5 2500k and a 670 in a yr or so where as i'm pretty much stuck if i go with fm2?? Cheers.

If there was no graphics card involved, I would say that the AMD build would give you a better rounded experience, but with the HD7770, the Pentium will give you significantly better performance per core. Seeing as gaming, for the most part, is still a world of better performance per core, the Pentium is the better route here.

Here's a CPU Boss comparison between the A8 and the Pentium:

Gpu 7770 $0 (will upgrade later.)

Ram 4 gig patriot s (will get another 4 later) $37

Psu corsair cx500 $77

Hard drive seagate 500 gig $56

Motherboard 1150 pin itx ASRock B85M $96

That is significantly better. I think you will appreciate the extra money you spend on the i5.
