Car audio question.

Hey guys, I wanted to ask and see if you could help me pick out a AMP and a SUB for my Car.
Looking for a decent AMP and a decent sub. I will be wiring and building the sub box myself. I just have no experience with this sort of stuff and wanted to be sure before I bought anything.

The main brand I am looking at is Alpine. I saw this AMP Here.
As for the subs I have no idea what is good and what is bad. Maybe someone could shine some light? I am going to be making a Sealed Box if that helps.

Edit: I am looking to pair it up with this.

I use to sell car audio for sometime and had many different systems myself (use to get 80-90% off so I had lots of choices)

Alpine is a good make, I never owned any Alpine myself but they have a nice clean sound to them and good quality.

My favorite brands are MTX and JL. I havent looked at MTX for a while I think they have changed from what they use to be a couple years ago but JL W3s W6s are amazing subs I have a W3 12inch and has a nice punch. I also have MTX sledge hammers those guys are something my friends use to call them tigers in a cage.

What type of music do you listen to most?10s are a little tighter for rock music and such but 12s will be better for all around everything get the deeper notes. I wouldnt get a 15 I have heard a couple and all got distorted and didnt sound as crisp.

Is there a reason for a sealed box? I personally hate sealed boxes sounds horrible and muffled. My friend got a 2000$ custom system installed in his trunk sealed and it sounded like crap to me I took his subs out put them in a ported box and sounded 100x times better and louder, he was furious that he wasted all that money. also my friends truck had a sealed box sounded muffled you opened windows and was 100x times better acted as a port almost. the port just lets them breath to feel deeper and flex more.

There have been many debate on the quality of 15's and Alpine has done a great job with there 15's. Why I am going for it. Also I am going for Sealed because I am mainly looking for quality over quantity.

Alpine used to be a good brand, but there quality on parts have been getting worst gradually, pioneer and kenwood is another great brand of audio sony is more midstream in terms of car audio. If you are building your enclosure yourself make sure you follow the specs that come with it for either the sealed or ported box as alternating from the designs can damage your woofers causing to much spl or they will either not be sounding like it/they were intended. I have an alpine digital mono for my subs running 1000wrms @ 2ohms, if you are looking at using more than one subwoofer which say is a single voice coil you can bi wire them by choosing parallel which doubles the ohms or serial by halfing the ohms.

Unless you go with a dual voice coil setup which has dual positive and negative terminal and can hook up which you prefer. The difference between the sealed and ported boxes are that the sealed box is a tight bass and the port is a punchy bass, my setup is 2 kenwood 400wrms woofers running serial into 2ohms at 1000wrms and 500wrms running 2 6x9 and 2x 4 inch.

Hope I have helped you in some way, in choosing your choices.
