straight core vs wavey cores - who has what ?

I am on the prowl for a cooler and it seem it is about a 50 - 50 split (air vs water) but water seems the smarter choice for the simple reason that it doesn't dissipate the heat over the rest of the board. . Now I have read that the parallel layered cores are 40% more efficient. So what I would like to know is which manufactures have these cores compared to the traditional zig zag construction type?
Silverstone is one for starters

You mean fins, not cores.

You have read "40% more efficient" on Silverstone's own website for the TD02 and TD03. Obviously since their design is patented there shouldn't be any other products that have straight fins. But in the automotive industry there are plenty of such radiators.

My gut instinct about the horizontal v corrugated is that there is no more surface area to dissipate heat, but it may be easier for the fan air to penetrate the radiator. That would then theoretically allow better temps at lower fan speeds and possibly reduced noise. But on the other hand, the 40% makes me suspicious because they don't present any evidence. E.g. when a company like Swiftech make such claims they show some graphs with data to demonstrate how and what they tested.

So better just check reviews of how AIO radiators actually perform, what temps they get, instead of searching for a particular design just because it seems like a neat idea.

Oops yes I did.. I've got cpu's on my brain.doh.gif any way vid review from Silverstone Tundra TD02 TD03 Overview Installation and Benchmarks - YouTube .
totally with you on your thoughts though, just wanting to know if there are other brands out there made the similar to theirs, I think the Silver stone rads look the best made quality (but I never judge by that alone) but still it shows . Funny thing is they all probably all come out of the same factory. Sunshine I think it's called.

I just remembered another PC water cooling company that does straight fins: Aquacomputer. Very high end and very expensive.

This one has pure copper fins and tubes, with plenums made from delrin, and the side panels can be either brushed stainless steel or anodised aluminium.
