Best TIM for a 99c laptop?

Hey guys, i've got a laptop with less than OK cooling after a years worth of use. Leaning towards a xigmatek tim right now or mx-4, anyone have a opinion of any tim's that are suited to work well on laptops?

MX-4 should work fine.
All the top tier TIMs are within a few degrees of each other, and with the temp your talking about my biggest concern would be to get some TIM on there as fast as possible.

Honestly any TIM would be great improvement over stock... had a friend's Asus gaming laptop throttle clearly due to overheating so we just put some AS5 on it. Seeing how it's going to look but I'm guessing it's going to be AWESOME

eh clean out your fans I bet that is what is causing the overheating issue. stock TIM is designed to last a long time as the average users aren't going to be repasting their machines at all. I use AS5 in my machine though and it does just fine. smile.gif

Assumed OP already cleaned the fans, but that's a valid point.
The quickest way to overheat a laptop is to block the fans (either by dirt or just blocking the vents).
Adding new TIM is seldom a bad step too, though.

Just noticed i never updated this thread! I ended up using some PK-2 that I had already as it was marginally close to the top tier stuff at the time. Fan grill wasn't very dirty so the airflow was fine, but the old TIM after 2 years was almost literally dust. New TIM lowered the idle temp ~20c and it will only hit the 95c throttle temp if i'm using outside on a hot day. I did load a modded bio's that makes the fan speed kick up sooner than it does by default which seems to have helped a bit too aslong as it isnt being used in a very hot place.
