Gaming Rig - 700€ budget - Page 2

I'm happy to GIVE him these parts, the GTX 460 or the i5 760 + Mobo, i won't be charging anything.

SETUP 1: i5 760 @ 4Ghz with some nice watercooling, SSD and HDD and a +- 200€GPU. or high end air cooling with a +-250€ GPU

SETUP 2: i5 2500K @ 4.5-5Ghz with a scythe mugen 2 and a GTX 460 WITH SDD or HDD(since you think SSD isn't needed, he can choose)

SETUP 3: i5 4570 @ 3.2Ghz with stock cooling and a GTX 460 with HDD or SSD and save an extra 55€

SETUP 4: AMD, wich would be 175€ for cpu & mobo, with my GTX 460 with SSD or HDD so that would save him 115€. enough for a high end air cooler(heard FX needs good cooling or am i wrong) or something else ??

Thoughts ?

EDIT: he'll be able to pay 300€ for a new GPU OR CPU-MOBO combination in 2-3 years.
so this makes it: better cpu & gtx 460 while getting a better gpu later VS better gpu & i5 760 whilegetting better cpu later

imo keep your i5 760. its still a good CPU with overclocking. and get yourself a HD 7950.

for your friend get him a FX-6300 system with HD 7870. stick to stock CPU cooler. that should be fine till 4 ghz. since you are gifting GTX 460 to your friend he can sell it and get a HD 7870. you can sell the GTX 460 for 80 - 90 euros

You sir, have come up with the perfect solution.

He won't go for the intel system anyway since he cant cough up the extra 100€ and he'll be pleased with the AMD system(he first asked me to make him an AMD setup to save some $$$). I've always been reluctant to advise AMD systems but that's because i only have experience with intel.

He could still go for the intel system and just keep my GTX 460 until he can buy a 7870 in a couple of months.(wich is what i would do but yeah)

You have been a GREAT help for me.
He'll now have the system he NEEDS rather than what i think he might need(an OC'd 2500K) with a better graphic card !

There's just ONE thing: i'm still hesitant advising him a bronze PSU...

I'll post back on this what his decision was biggrin.gif

L0L my last post got ****ed up...

Anyway this is the system we will be going for:

Corsair 4GB PC3-12800 Vengeance DDR3 SDRAM (1x 4GB, 1600MHz, CL9)(GET 8GB LATER)
Wijzigen € 38,50 € 38,50

Aerocool Strike X Advance Miditower Devil Red
Wijzigen € 55,50 € 55,50

AMD FX-6300 Black Edition (Socket AM3)
Wijzigen € 103,51 € 103,51

ASRock 970 Extreme3 (Socket AM3)
Wijzigen € 71,50 € 71,50

Samsung 128GB 840 Pro SSD (SATA-600, 2.5")
Wijzigen € 118,00 € 118,00

Seasonic 550W G-Serie voeding
Wijzigen € 87,72 € 87,72

MSI ATI Radeon HD7870 2GB DDR5 OC (PCI-e)
Wijzigen € 179,50 € 179,50

Eindtotaal (incl. BTW) € 654,23

Is the PSU enough for this setup ?
I'll be giving him 54€, then sell my GTX and get myself a 7950 in a month(after i've worked)
Also i can get him a noctua NH-D14 for free smile.gif

So OC's will be like 4.5Ghz i guess ?

the psu is more than enough. yeah with a good cpu cooler 4.6 - 4.8 Ghz also could be possible.
