I wish I could help, but I'm so out of my league here...

Fantastic reading though!

You can try ATI tools, and just run that for a while to test your video cards for artifracts and what not.

Umm as for your CPU, what do you have it clocked at? If it passed Ortho for 8 hours it should be pretty dam stable I would think.

I would use driver cleaner and uninstall your video card drivers and put them back in, there is a chance they could of gotten corrupted somehow.

heh

Well I have discovered a few BIOS tweaks that have made a difference.

Increasing the refresh time on the RAM from 35 to 45 netted an additional 200+ points yielding my first 3Dmark06 in the 8600+ range. High before that was 8470.

Tried increasing the PCI latency but nothing there. Probably a RAM related deal. Nothing I would call a fault but seems like a limitation. As pointed out once before running 2 sticks instead of 4 usually seems to work better for overclocking.

Regardless of what I do it seems that I get a wierd visual distortion in Canyon RUn during 3Dmark06. It is better (less) now that I increased the refresh.

Hoping the new stuff (Ballistix DDR21000) will be the ticket.

Still holding off on the BIOS flash to the alpha. Reading about the issues peeps have with these alphas and betas makes me leery. The Benefits may not outweigh the Negatives.

Going to push on with the overclocking now that I have gotten 3060 nailed down.

Having a devil of a time overclocking the X1950pros. ATI Tool causes a crash immediately. ATI Tray Tool causes benchmarks to fail immediately. ATI overdirve seems to be overclocking--but then when I run benchmarks it is scoring lower...

Probably got the wrong cards for what I am looking to do. But they look great! Just like the Abit board...LOL

When I do solve my OC issues I will be the Guru of uGuru...heh

@ Atomic: yup I did that once...seems likely I need to Format and Reninstall to be perfectly safe. The Raptors load so darn fast it is hardly a chore...and the Intel host is pretty decent. I ran HD Tach again and got a solid 122 average read. Pretty much what i have been seeing off these controllers from others.

Overall I think it is a dynamite rig...but not necessarily the rig for the job. Then again every board I look hard at has some odd issue or other..680i included.

Yea I know what you mean. Apparently with my board the newest BIOS creates a lot of things to be desired including stability, So I need to downflash it today after I get a floppy drive. Other wise I would be sitting at 3.7ghz with my E6600 stable. But right now, its far from it.

Also any clue as to what your temps are? Would love to know.

Oh yea, if you want to save a couple bucks on the ram, and your other order hasn't shipped, you can pick these up.

Link

I got that and the corsair cooler for the same price as the tracer ram that you got.

No Clue at all on temps man.

I am getting sick of problems though--this has been the week from hell.

Now Velocitor is all messed up.

Okay I have some updates. BIOS 13 is rocking the Casbah. I am at 3200 mhz and climbing. Last night I ran Orthos 9 hours to ensure the new BIOS and 3150 were stable. Just now finished about 4 hours Orthos at 3200. The Ram is happily churning away 356 x 2 Thanks to Lenzo for some awesome RAM.

I have high hopes that the Ballistix will take me to another level.
