Well I got the itch to OverClock ICE last night and by the ti e I was done I was lucky the board would Fold at stock speed--many many resets later.

Too much juice has got old Bushido loose as a goose.

I did pull off a 12.9 SUper Pi at 3995 though--but no Futuremark scores--rig would not make it through..ditto Orthos and Folding at high clock speeds...

I have notes from all my work Benching ICE and the previous voltages and clocks no longer work.

I guarantfryteeya that you put a powerhouse GFX card in that FX rig of yours and it would trounce ICE in the FutureMarks scores.

90% of the power these days is provided by the GFX...

I mean SuperPi on AMD is teh suck--even my X2 4800+ at max OC is sloooooooow in comparison to the lowliest C2D--but regardless of that for most purposes a s939 rig is still very competitive.

But good news is I now get to try out something really new. I am curious about the the PK and at least it is about 1/2 the price of replacing my Abit...

I used to be Asus all the way--but after a taste of DFI and Abit it will be hard for Asus to win me back...this will have to be a stunning overclocker to get me back in the Asus camp...

Thank you for asking

Apparently so. The readout sort of disappeared for a little while--not sure why--but now it is back

After one lightning storm the rig was off...not sure how or why as none of the other stuff in the house was effected..but anyway after that the readout would work for the countdown and then not work for the temps... I was a bit concerned but fired the rig anyway and watched temps in BIOS--and it went below 0 C.

Did you ever notice that when it reads out a 3 it reverses the 3 so it looks like an "E"?

Right now the readout displays "-E7 C" lo.

It seems to hover around -40 C mostly.

The Chilly1 Phase you sold me is a workhorse--I hardly ever turn it off

Update the thread with your new Q6600 rig, when you take apart the whole thing to put in the new CPU pics

And is the phase still working? Or have you moved on?

It works great--but it is too loud for me--I am getting tired of listening to too may rigs running in a small room so I only run one at a time now...

I will eventually get the P5K3 in ICE--but that board has some work to do first load testing Blue Dream and testing a mess of fans on my tech station LC loop.

As ou may know prepping a mobo fro PHase pretty much detroys it;s resale value so I may go with the P5K vanilla in ICE and sell the P5K3 Deloxe after it's chores are done...not sure--depends on how much I like it...

ALthough I would like to give KniteLife and AUdi a run for the money I also need my money back out of that board...we'll see what happens after I lay eyes on it...

LOL this thread is kinda long to wade trhough but I do have it detailed in pictures here somewhere towards the beginning.

Although the typical way is to protect the board is with all sorts of difficult to remove gook like liquid electrical tape and self adhesive neoprene foam and all I had great results the last time with nothing more than a mess of vaseline...

The idea is to prevent condensation--especially on the back side of the mobo and in the socket area.

Pack ht esocket with vaseline and smear vaseline on the back side and top side of the area around the socket--mound up a ring of vaseline to make a good seal and make a thick neoprene collar around the phase head--the vaseline/neoprene seal is airtight and although the vaseline will liquiefy somewhat over time is still seals perfectly.

A real mess later if you decide to sell the board--but it can be removed with electrical contact cleaner (auto parts).

I believe that is how KniteLife has his latest mobo set up...

Frankly though I have already toasted one $250 mobo on ICE and would just as soon toast one half the price...when I am running on phase I am running all out--it just doesn't make sense to me to be at -40 something and running an OC/overvolt that you could run on water. If am going to sit there listening to a phase unit 24/7 it better being doing something nothing else can.

BTW I returned the P5K3 Deluxe after looking more closely at the RAM prices...I will wait until DDR3 drops. I got the P5K Deluxe instead...

+Rep, couldn't find it on google and yeah I guess that is nice DDR3 isn't needed so much as good DDR2 can't handle.. DDR1 can still handle most apps so good choice.
