Options for 2011 socket server

Hey guys,

Trying to help my brother put together a server that will be first for hashing/mining/password cracking for school (computer security major)/gaming, then relegated to a vmware esxi server. Right now the parts list looks like:

E5 2620
P9X79-E WS
32GB G.SKILL Sniper (4x8GB)
2x R7970 Boost
SeaSonic SS-660
Samsung 840 EVO 256GB
WD Caviar Green 2TB

Is the E5 2620 the best option for this sort of machine? We're trying to keep the whole thing at about $2k, preferably under.

Id suggest waiting for IVY-E equivalent which is due out September 11th so he gets more bang for his buck. Also, lower power consumption.

Ivy hex core Xeons are out on the 11th? I know the quad cores have been out for a little while now...

Supposedly that's the care, xeons usually follow a week or two after consumer parts.
