New router and Intel 5300AGN yet ...

I am about 1meter away from my new WD Central N900 (Dual band!) behind a concrete wall and ... i'm getting only 270mbps ON 5GHz
Is 270mbps normal for a wifi antenna that's behind a concrete wall and yes i know i'm definitely on 5GHz wink.gif

And yes i am on a 5300AGN with 3 antennas

Keep in mind nobody else has a 5GHz router in my neighborhood.

It is my experience that Windows does not show the addition of both bands. The N900 is going to give you a maximum of 450 mbps per channel so windows is going to show 450 mbps in the best situation. I found that it is never the best situation as I sat a router right next to a very similar wireless card and never got 450. There could also be metal rebar supports in that concrete wall which would significantly impede signal.

I know about that but surely i'll be going to 120x3 which is 360 or 90x3 = 270
But it's 100x3 which isn't logical at all!

I know i was going to get less than 450 but ... 300 is weird for a 5GHz-capable device. If you check wiki
And yes my concrete walls have HUGE rebars
Okay, after using speedtest i'm getting 60mbps throughput. My LAN device does 100mbps SOLID ... Well this is better than the 40 i used to get with the Linksys E1500.

The key upgrade for the rest of us is the huge transmission distance upgrade
