Surround Sound upgrade. - Page 2

Let me know if this helps (Plus 1 Rep would be great). Also what system you go with because after that its all about tuning the system for your environment. All of the receivers listed have the ability for auto tuning of volume and timing. They also have several listening modes and you will be able to tune in specific frequencies through the Xonar sound card and receiver's sub crossover. thumb.gif

good lord did this really hit page two without a budget response and / or what he is using now?

I have heard sony receivers that sound great...and sony stuff that sounds like pure ****e.

for out HT I have a Yamaha RX-V573 which is hooked up to my Sony C67ES changer via optical .....it makes music sound Delightful (I have Klisch KG 2.5's hook up to the Yammy)

amazon currently has the model up from my yammy the RX-V673 for $399 which is very nice... it is a old model now hence the low price

http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-V673-7-2-Channel-Network-Receiver/dp/B007JF85WE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1378193643&sr=1-1&keywords=yamaha+receiver

blah blah blah

in general money spend in the following order yields most results

1. speakers (duh?) bad speakers can make the best amp sound like poop

2. amp/receiver (good speakers bad amp... not great either)

3. sound card / dac

used speakers can be a really steal right now on my pc I have some Monitor Audio Silver S1's I just got (they had a horrid black paint job I cleaned off) for freaking $11.25 US....amazing amounts of awesome for $11.25

(they look like this now)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I also have a pair of NHT SuperZero's hooked up to my computer (i paid $35 for the pair of these ...they came to me basically in near mint shape)

if you want nice computer sound you could do much worse than this 5.1 package from NHT ($799 for 5 superzero's and super 8 sub)

Actually that was in the first set of questions I asked him. However since that information was not available and its was getting late (2:00am) I just cut to the list method to at least give him several options. I agree with your hierarchy to the equipment. That said one thing that struck me as I was going to bed is his biggest issue when listening to music was not the highs or even mid range of the music, but the amount of Bass only. OP said he has a Sony subwoofer and to be honest I only know of a few they have made that were not entry level subs. That said have you tried getting just a better subwoofer? What type of music do you listen to?

lol...what are you my wife over there.... cause she literally asks that very same thing....... i really like my little vintage radio and the boombox... I wish I had more room I'd collect more of them... they both work I use the boom box sometimes outside .. the little am/fm radio i like alot I hardly every use it... but if the power goes out who is going to be all set with several battery powered radios to keep himself somewhat enertained?? this guy that is who.

Nothing wrong with collecting Vintage audio~ It just looks outta place when you see all that Nice stuff then you have a 1980s Threes-Company type of radio in the backround lol. Cool hobby I gotta get into something like that myself. Ive been wanting to collect old Gaming systems like Sega Genisis,Atari, Commadore 64 and so forth. I would never use em, just so I know I have it lol. ............I did manage to save my very 1st VCR which my mother bought me when i was 5 years old, Its probbly almost as big as a Air-conditioner and weighs at least 20-30 pounds~ Panasonic one of their very 1st Vcrs right after Beta came out~ Its HUGE~
