GTX 690 for 1080p gaming ? - Page 2

^^^ This. You'll end up getting artifacts and instability long before you toast a GPU from overclocking.... usually. No warranty expressed nor implied if you go jacking the GPU voltages too high.

There are some pretty fantastic GTX 690 bargains these days if you look around. If you can get one cheap, the GTX 690 smokes all of the single-GPU boards out there, GTX Titan included.

12gb ddr4 ram 1600mhz

and im doing a overkill build

No, is not a overkill
Use 16gb (2x8) dual channel 2133mhz, ddr3
Sandy-e wont support "DDR4".

I'd say right now with current games it's more than enough. Over kill on OCN is an oxymoron. 2GB VRAM is enough right now on single monitor at 1080p unless your playing Skyrim modded. Handles Crysis 3 well though. Who knows what newer games will bring, we can only speculate.

Here is a video I taped to show BF3 gaming example with my GTX 690 and feasible (on air) OC on my VG278Q 120 Hz 1920x 1080p monitor. FRAPS running in upper left corner to show FPS.

BF3 Caspian Border / Ultra Settings / i7 3770K 4.0 / GTX 690 Base 1039 Memory 1531 Boost 1144 - after Dynamic OverClock GPU#1 1170 GPU #2 Core 1195

When I pushed my GPU and CPU benchmark results. I know you didn't ask about benchmarking results but here they are to compliment what I'm saying.

i7 3770K 4.5 GHz - EVGA GTX 690 1044 Core 1594 Memory 1149 Boost / CPU-Z Validation

Two GTX 680's still relevant gaming right now. Looking forward to BF4, even though I've moved on to 1440p on main rig it's still enough currently. Heat nor sound is an issue with two 256 bit GPU's on the 690's thick PCB. Frame metering on a hardware level has felt like one GPU with no micro stutter. I feel like it was the first dual GPU actually built and implemented right from head to toe.

Good luck in which ever GPU's you decide. smile.gif
